Words. They are powerful little things. They can make you laugh with abandon, weep with joy or smile with contentment. Some words sound funny - like clinkety-clank. Other words just look funny - like giggle. And still other words can make your heart ache with yearning - like dream.

multi-purpose post!

I scooted over to Rockdale earlier in the week to work on my space.  And, of course, I always shop Antique Queens cuz it’s really a great mall and I always find something!  Lanna manages the mall and I absolutely adore her!

She has a great shabby look!  But I about fell over when I turned the corner and saw the hospital bed she has!  It’s good but what makes it great is the IV pole beside it….that she hung a chandelier on!  ohmygosh!  Darling!

This is a great Warrenton/Round Top piece and someone needs this in their space!  If you are interested call Lanna 512-446-4655.

When I left there I was just a hop skip and a jump away from Antique Gallery in Round Rock!  I hadn’t been there in a while so I decided to see what I could find!

I ran into Stephanie from Gatherings in Georgetown!  It’s a great store and they have expanded by adding a space in the Antique Gallery!  I had a blast looking at all their goodies!   Check out Gatherings if you’re passing through Round Rock or Georgetown….you will not be disappointed!

Then I ran into Steve who owns Uncommon Objects!  If you haven’t been to Uncommon Objects, I will just tell you, it is worth the drive to Austin!  And Steve, seriously, is like one of the nicest people I know!

Anyway, we visited for a few minutes and it reminded me about a show he is doing in a coupla weeks…..Accumulations-Hill Country Vintage Home & Garden Fair in Dripping Springs on March 10 & 11.  My precious friend and February SweetTalk Pal, Theresa will also be selling there!  Head over to her blog for the skinny!

If that’s not enough my friend Ann will be selling her beauties at the Boerne Antique Show in Boerne February 27 & 28!  Check out her blog and then I promise you will want to check out her space at the show!

There you have it, two “appetizer” shows to warm you up for Warrenton/Round Top!

I still need to tell you about my buying trip….but it’s still not funny!  We were headed way north when we got stuck in the snow and ice in Little Rock?  Boy, if you think there’s not a thing to do in Little Rock on a pretty day you oughta be stuck there in a snow storm!  Yikes!

Here’s a pic of me and my friend, Sandi, trying to act like this was part of the plan!

We headed south as soon as we could get out of there!  South is safe….right?  Wrong!  More snow!  I would never say this in front of Mighty, but he’s a bit of wimp when it comes to bad weather!  He’d much rather be hangin’ with his peeps in the hot and dusty parking lot in Warrenton!

Mighty actually refused to work his way through the frozen tundra of the parking lot and opted to spend the night under the portico in front of the hotel!  The nice folks at the front desk made the wise decision not to mess with either one of us about that!

And then there was that little matter of the nail in the tire.  You know the only thing worse than having a nail in your tire?  It’s having a nail in the SIDE of your tire!  Yup, that means a new tire……

I gotta stop.  See, it’s just not that funny.

I am really looking forward to the Hill Country show and setting up with all these awesome vendors. You are right, Steve is so sweet as is his wife. Hope you get to make it out, would love to see you before Warrenton, T btw, that Lanna finds the coolest things, I’ve so been wanting to stop by, maybe soon!

I wish I was on that buying trip, that actually sounds like a regular trip to us!

Janet, You have to be one of the nicest people I have ever met! To even be included in a post with Steve Wyman is an honor, and I did not know about that show! I will be checking that out and hopefully people will come to Boerne – it’s not the greatest timing with Warrenton/Round Top right around the corner! It’s all good hunting, though, and you just never know where you might find your treasure, right? Thank you so much for the mention!!

  • Sandi Says:

Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night (on icy, slick roads)will stay these swift treasure hunters from their appointed (and,in this case, un-appointed)rounds!!! Huh?! It was one memorable “adventure” after another!!! And, hey, at least my hair was being flippy!!! Oh dear!!! The best part was being with you and finding some great stuff!!! Look out Warrenton, here we come!!
    Love you!

Janet! You and I could be cut from similar cloth! Did you know we both end the majority of our sentences with an exclamation mark???!!!!! I love it! I’ve been trying really hard lately to cut down on the excitement in my writing but it is just so hard. You have confirmed that it’s OK! Thank you!!!

Ok, now, on to beds. Guess what??? I have TWO hospital beds in my house! Meredith has a twin in her room and she has had it for years. She loves it. It creaks when she rolls over and everything. But it is just so neat. Then, all the kids had a double size in their room when they were babies. That’s where we changed diapers, took naps, read books, etc. It became a guest bed when company came. They eventually graduated from the crib to the big double hospital bed. Joseph finally gave it up a few years ago – not manly enough. I’m asuuming Joe would REALLY not go for the IV Chandelier – that is so cute!!! Anyway, for now the double is in the attic waiting for a new spot someday!

The best part . . . they both came from my grandfather’s house in Kilgore. My MOTHER was BORN in the double bed!!!!!

    Have a great Sunday!
    Rebecca
