time (actually) stood still!

Fresh back from Warrenton late last night!  Load-out was frantic as I am a crazed woman on a mission to spend the night in my own bed, in my own house!  You would be shocked at what I pack in baggies!  But in about two hours flat I’m on the road!

I don’t know how other couples operate but at my house we are departmentalized!  I am in charge of all things domestic and my husband is in charge of…well…he goes to work everyday!  That’s enough!  I definitely think he drew the short straw!

Even though I know our roles are clearly defined, it’s always a shock to get home!  The laundry is sky high, not to mention that he skiied for a week while I was gone so that adds all his ski stuff to the 10 days worth of “regular” laundry!  There’s unpacking to be done….not just the suitcases but two cars!  All the Rubbish gets unloaded into the dining room where over the next few weeks I will sort, sort, resort and organize!  Then there’s just the general housework that gets neglected.  etc, etc…you get the idea!

I’m not complaining, simply stating the facts!

There’s also that overall feeling that a truck parked on me for ten days!  Tired.  And I have the battle wounds to show for the load-out!  My legs are scratched, scraped and bruised!  If it’s possible to run into it or trip over it, I do!

So what do you think I just took a few minutes to do?  Decorate, of course!  In the midst of exhaustion and all that needs to be accomplished I was overtaken with a spark of creativity!

I almost always, secretly, have an item or two in my space that I really hope doesn’t sell!  This time was no exception!  I found a hanging church light on a buying trip a few months ago.  I had all the wiring taken out of the top and had it rewired as a table top light fixture!  Personally, I thought that was a stroke of brilliance!  The catch is that I didn’t do a real great job of advertising that little fact!  Thus, it is now mine!

I also found two wood chippy white garden baskets!  They didn’t sell and I have claimed one of them for myself!

That equals an opportunity to re-do the entry table!  It’s a work in progress and I will spend days tweaking it to get it just where I want it, but thought I’d show you what I’ve done so far!

I love the “crown” on the church light!

Old house numbers laying on an ironstone platter!  Not only do I love words, but I love numbers too!

I took a couple of the numbers and glued them on these old flower pots.  See the white?  The glue is not yet dry!  I layed the flower pots in the flower basket!

This is a line drawing of my front door that my sister-in-law, Mae-dee, gave me a few years ago!  It’s one of my favorite things!  Its permanent home is on the entry table so no matter what I do there, it is always included!

I have tons of pictures to organize!  I will post most of them on Facebook and, of course, share some of my favorites with you!  I have really missed blogging!  I had great intentions of blogging while I was gone, but my internet connection was painful and I finally gave up!  That officially means I’m behind!

Don’t forget to leave your comments as the April Give-Away is just around the corner!  Nothing would make me happier than to enter your name and I can only do that if you leave a comment!

Okay, peeps, as promised…..I’m back!

Janet- It was sooo great meeting you! How I left your space without making a purchase is a mystery to me! Actually I think I was suffering from sensory overload- I just saw too much stuff and was too weary to make a decision! UGGGH!
You win the award(my very own award) for The Nicest Person I Met at Warrenton!!!!!
Looking forward to browsing your site and Making that purchase!!!!

When my sister mentioned that you told her that your husband is “not allowed” to help you pack up, I reckoned that it’s because you’re so massively organized and must pack up with the next show in mind. The truth is revealed! We had to buy 3 extra suitcases to take our loot home. More later XOX
