with age comes…..wisdom?
Not in my world! For me, age has brought a lot of chin-scratching, eye-rolling and glances toward heaven! Perhaps “wisdom” is in my future, but in my present are more appropriate words like: HMMM, YIKES, SERIOUSLY, UH-OH, OKAY and REALLY?
I’ve certainly learned a few things about myself….thank goodness! This journey of self-discovery has been, well let’s just say, interesting! There have been a few scary moments, but overall I kinda like me! That’s not to say there’s not room for improvement. I am forever asking God to please leave me on this earth until I can get myself completely together! If you catch my drift!
That brings me to today…..it was a HMMM one! I have this quirk in my personality that will not allow me to do just a little of something….like…..I am completely incapable of taking one load of laundry out of the hamper and doing it! Nope, if I’m doing one load, I’m doing it all! I can’t stop and mop the floors….if I’m gonna mop then I’m gonna clean the whole house! I stopped trying to figure it out and got busy trying to figure out how to live with it!
This quirk of mine is not exactly efficient! It’s taken me all these weeks to finally sit down and go through my buckets of leftover treasures from Warrenton and decide what’s going back in the Spring (not much!) and what’s going to my space in Antique Queens. Because…..see…..I couldn’t go through a bucket here and there over these weeks I had to wait til I had a whole day that I could go through ALL of them and that didn’t happen til this past weekend!
I’m months behind in turning over my space at Antique Queens…..because…..well, now you know why! Marked today as the day I would go to Rockdale, come hell or high water and as it turns out there was quite a bit of high water! Storms started in the night, but there was no stopping me! Ran by my home-away-from-home (Central Market!) to pick up salads, next I stopped for reinforcements (Mom!) and off we went! Loading in and out in the rain is nothing new to this girl!
And then the glorious mess was made! What goes, what stays and where to put it all in meantime! Mom and I have a great system and I could not do this as efficiently or as quickly without her. She unwraps and wraps and always has an opinion about just what-the-heck I’m doing! After all, she’s responsible for all this TALENT!
Enough with the chitchat…..how ’bout some pictures! (And, no, I didn’t take any “befores”…trust me, it was bad!)

The flower picture on the back wall was painted by my 16 year old niece, Meg! She’s amazingly talented!

I know, I know…..it’s a doll head in a battery jar! You either get it or it totally creeps you out!

Vintage flower frogs on an ironstone platter….does anyone like these besides me?!

Lots of SweetTalk!

Oh help me! My love of vintage aquariums!

Always a nod to my favorite color…..pink! And this is ironstone too….WHY isn’t this in my house?

How I heart vintage botanicals! These are stashed in the back of child’s hutch!

The chippier the better, darling white desk!

So I’m a little bit KOOKY sometimes but…..HAPPY!

Well I just love it all. Wish I could your way more often when the store is open. I’m usually passing through too early or too late. I wish you could encourage Lana to get her blog going. I started it but now it’s just sitting there? It would be great promotion for the store because I know there are a lot of great vendors there. Just a thought.

I think I’m afflicted with the same disorder. It’s either all or nothing…most times nothing!
I don’t care what the space looked like before…it looks great now! Ask Peg when she’s available to get me in line. Oh and tell her, the girls loved their books. That was so sweet of her!

Love, love, love it all, Janet! Your booth looks amazing and I do love everything in it, including that darling doll’s head – I think she does need to go back to Warrenton in the springtime, for sure!

hmmmm, my husband is just like that. It’s always been all or nothing with him whether the project (or whatever) is big or little. Me…I’ll just keep trudging on. Guess the good Lord thinks we need both kinds. Looks like you all did a great job in your space.
