JUNKin’ family!

i’ve shown lots of snaps of the JUNK me and the sister haul around, but this time i thought i’d show you some of the JUNK that is in my brother’s store.

first, a little bit about his *style*!  if it’s big…heavy…requires wheels to move…a trailer to haul…he loves it!  if it can hang from the raftersit does!  if it lights up…all the better!

on the other hand, my sister-in-law is fabulous with fabric!  you will see upholstered pieces in these pics and she’s the creative brain behind them!  she loves retro…bright colors…and if you throw in a bit of funky she’s one happy girl!

enjoy…

if only i had a place in my house for a scoreboard!  if only.

how cute is this chair?

great medical doors!

everyone needs a turnstile!  whaaat?  you think you don’t need one?  i’ll show you a supercute one…in a house…soon!

remember this.  i’ll be showing you another one in an upcoming post…

bullfighter vignette!  takes me back to a bullfight i saw in spain a few years ago!  have you ever seen a bullfighter live and in person?  holy moly.  do not get me started.  (is it hot in here?)

i heart cubbies…

the only thing not for sale…my brother’s *bell* collection!

don’t these pictures make you want to GO?  do it.  now.  and don’t forget to look up!

here are a few more pics of some of the JUNK headed for Marburger!  the last sneak peek, most everything is now packed and ready for loading day!

i’m always on the lookout for these little pin cushion chairs!  they are so cute and i don’t often find them in my colors, but i scored with this one!

i’m a huge fan of these measuring tapes with the cloth tape…it’s a number thAng!  i can’t wait to unroll this one and fill a fish tank or battery jar or bowl!  oh the possibilities!

i called my dad “pop” so i love anything with that word!   someone’s note on the bottom of a little white cup, very sweet!

a supercute abacus!

forever on the prowl for doll furniture…oh my love of stuff that’s
not-the-size-it’s-suppose-to-be!

the headboard of a baby cribadorable!  and that “cane” is metal!  can’t wait to hang this on the wall!

i heart this!  one of my fav finds!  do you know what it is?

here’s another shot…

maybe i’ll tell you…maybe i won’t…maybe you’ll just have to come to Marburger and see it for yourself!  it’d be worth the trip!  it’s FAB!

RED business.

what the heck?  where exactly have the last three weeks gone?

i spent the better part of two weeks on a JUNK mission!  Mighty and i headed north…as i seem to have a knack for doing in snow storms…but this time i didn’t get stuck!  phew!  i headed south until i could head north again.  follow?

map required.  parts unknown.  new places with lots of JUNK!  excited!

this week a bug invaded my body in the form of a migraine from
H E double L.
i was confident this was the one that was finally going to kill me.  and for about 48 hours, i would have been perfectly fine with that outcome.

expect that i found all this good JUNK and i hated to miss Marburgerwhat’s a girl to do?  pray!

alas…by the grace of God…i lived.

so just in case you missed mei’m back and loaded for bear!

these arrived in the mail today…the coveted Marburger hang tags!  and they happen to be RED!

i know.  it’s a little late in the day, but it’s never too late to be happy it’s FRIDAY!

btw…this happens to be my 200th post!  miracles never cease!

Jan 19 2011

start your engines!

JUNKin’ season is just getting started!  but then, living in my head, it’s always JUNKin’ season!

first up…JUNK from near and far will be showing up in Round Top in the very near future!  i’m taking Rubbish on the road and will be setting up at Marburger in the Farm House!  if you stopped by last Fall then you KNOW that room was meant for ME!

and if you didn’t stop by…well…shame.  now is your chance to get your calendar marked!  opening day is March 29…you don’t want to miss it!  trust me on this…I KNOW MY JUNK!

and just go ahead with your bad JUNKin’ self and ink-in the Fall dates too…you know you want to be there!

next up…the incredibly talented HEAP girls have set their dates!  yup!  April 28, 29 & 30!  and as the fifth HEAPster I’ll be in-the-house on the 28th helping run check out!  can you imagine?

and if that’s not enough…there’s a distinct possiblity i’ll be back at the Barn in June with my friend Red Door!  stay tuned…

i’ll be seeing you soon!  superfun events that are a must for all JUNKers!

Jan 17 2011

galoshes required…

it was a muddy mess in round top!  i remember the very first time i set-up in the fall of 2000…in five short days it went from 99 to 32 and raining cats & dogs!

of course, i had only packed for HOT so i scrounged through
wal-mart buying overalls and lumberjack flannel shirts in a sad attempt to stay warm!

and still my entire calendar revolves around spring and fall round top!   every now and then i get this fleeting thought about not doing it anymore…and then i say to myself: what? are you crazy?

the shopping ~ the unwrapping ~ the pricing ~ the packing ~ the loading ~ the unloading ~ the unpacking ~ the doing-it-time-after-time!  and…can you imagine?…some people CLEAN their JUNK!  not me…i breathe new life into the term AS IS!

for all the trouble and all the fun the best-EST part is the people i’ve met and come to know all united in this crazy business of buyin’ and sellin’ JUNK!  these are the people i love…these are my friends!

for the JUNK sold over the weekend and the JUNK packed away for the next show…the best part was hangin’ with my friend tricia!  and man…let me just tell you how easy unloading and loading is when you have a bald guy!  and it wasn’t even my bald guy…it was tricia’s!  i got to borrow himlucky me!

i snapped a few pictures yesterday…if you’ve been to round top in these conditions i know you’ll get a snicker or two out of these…

Mighty loves to play in the mud!

not much PINK showing by the time i left, but i’ll give my galoshes a good scrubbing and pack them away for the next time!

because…rain or shine…hail or high water…i wouldn’t miss it!

Dec 1 2010

excuse me while i get out of the way!

Have you ever had a friend ask you to help clean out a closet?  I’ve helped friends do this over the years.  Personally, I think it’s fun!  But give me a day to clean out my own closet and I’d more likely choose elective foot surgery!

For those of you in this crazy business do you sometimes think you can’t possibly wrap, pack, load, unload, wrap, pack, load and haul this JUNK one more time?  So how happy do you think I was when my big sis volunteered to *clean out my closet* i.e.  turn over my space at Antique Queens?  OMG!  Not only that, but she actually got excited about putting the Christmas tree together!  OMG x 10!

We have a philosophy in our family if you’re feeling iffy: you can either sit around the house and feel iffy or you can go do something fun and feel iffy!  So…call us crazy…but 4 days after surgery we loaded the mother and a comfy chair in the car and headed for Rockdale!

While the mother sat, I stood on one foot and then the other while we watched Mo completely turnover my space and decorate it for Christmas!  OH JOY!

I can’t wait to show you everything but first up, the PINK Christmas tree…starting at the top…where a sweet doll is playing angel…

a santa mug…a frame…paper doll clothes and lots of SweetTalk

a silver dye roller…a paris vase…a hand mirror…

a sewing basket and a trophy…

more SweetTalk and a vintage ice cream box…

a glittery santa boot…

a tiny settee with a big pink bow…

a gold dutch boy and his girl…

it all adds up to a precious PINK Christmas tree!

I did not lift a finger!  My big sis did it all!  She always ROCKS and on this particular day she also ROCKED IT!

it’s a shoe thAng!

i have to admit…there’s not much i like better than a new pair of shoes!  i can’t always find clothes i like or that fit just right, but shoes…i can always find a pair of shoes i HEART!   when i jumped into the JUNK business i started buying every pair of baby shoes i could get my hands on!

i haven’t sold too many of them over the years, but i just don’t care!  they make me smile!

when i got to HEAP last week and saw the mirror my big sis made i could not get over it!  still haven’t, in fact!  and, yes, it sold in the first hour!  i did get a few pics and wanted to show you how absolutely adorable it iswas!

can you stand it?

i overheard a lady say “that would be so cute in a nursery!”  are you kidding me?  who needs a nursery?  if it were mine it would be front and center in my house!

hats off to my creative and talented sister for coming up with this precious idea!  i have a feeling it will be copied, but not by me…i’m simply a jealous-wreck she thought of it first!
